Alexandre Alagôa is a Portuguese experimental filmmaker and electronic music producer. His short films have been screened at more than 100 festivals all around the world including Vienna Shorts, Go Short, Kurzfilmtage Oberhausen, IndieLisboa, Festival Tous Courts, Short Waves, Bogotá Experimental Film Fest, Videoformes, among many others.
Director's note
«XYZ» takes hold of an empty office building as an emblem for the modern self-imprisonment of humankind, only to shatter its implied narrative to shreds. What’s left is a skeleton, a timeless space, a ghost of what once was, now filled with eternal possibilities. Drawing on structural filmmaking techniques, the film intertwines scientific studies of physiology and psychology with the raw plasticity of moving images, taking the corridors of the skyscraper to new sensible, obscure and perceptual realms.
